Pumpkin Carving

Hello All,

We will be carving pumpkins in class on Tuesday, so don't forget to purchase your pumpkin for class. I got one from Market Street last night and it was priced at $4.99, but Wal-Mart might be a little cheaper. In order for everyone to have time to finish carving their pumpkin in class we will wait to finish discussing Chapters 5-6 of the Guerilla Girls in class on Thursday, October 16th. Remember you only have to choose 4 artists you really found interesting from Chapter 6, but read all of Chapter 5.

We will begin discussions on our next book, Works of Heart pgs. 11-42 next week on Tuesday, October 21st . Please make sure you have purchased this book in time.

Update to Art Event #2 Due Date

Hello All,

Since many of you are pushing to finish your work for the National Arts Program, and we need to discuss the first three chapters of the Guerilla Girls this coming Tuesday, October 7 I have decided to move the due date for your Art Event papers/presentations to Thursday, October 9. We will also finish discussing Chapters 4-6 of the Guerilla Girls on that same day. If there is time we will begin clay.

We will also have our pumpkin carving event in class on the 14th. You will need to supply your own pumpkin. You should be able to find them pretty cheap at any grocery store or Wal-Mart. If you have an allergy to pumpkins I have gloves available for you to use. I also have some carving kits, but if you want to bring your own you can. You can also bring in patterns, or create your own.
The Garden and Arts center Pumpkin trail event will take place 16-19. Here is the website if you want to check it out. http://www.mylubbock.us/departmental-websites/departments/parks-recreation/pumpkin-trail

Readings and Assignments for Monday, September 9

Hello Everyone,

The first of class will be when everyone can present their art event or turn in their papers. We will also share our "I Am From Poems" and unsung heroes.

For the reading I have decided we will only look at one article, Girls, Worms, and Body Image on page 107. This will create a change for our next reading, and I will announce that in class on Tuesday.

Remember First Friday Art Trail is tomorrow night. Check out the website at ffat.org.

Welcome to the Class Blog for Art 3372 Sec 006

Welcome to the Class Blog for Art 3372 Sec 006

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to our class blog. This is where  I will post any changes to the class readings, due date reminders, and any other information pertaining to the class.
On the top of the blog is where you will find links to things, such as, the course syllabus, TEKS for elementary, middle, and high school levels, and example lesson plans. Throughout the semester this is information you will need to access, and now it is all here on the blog.

If you miss a day of class please check the blog to see if there are any changes to the reading assignments, or to see if anything is due before you e-mail me. You can e-mail me to let me know you will not be in class, but as far as determining what you missed please check the class blog.

You are all authors of the blog, so you can post anything you like (as long as it is appropriate and relevant to the class).
Please feel free to post if you want to add anything to a discussion that you did not get the chance to say in class. I will be keeping track of how often people engage in discussion, and it will effect your discussion/participation grade. Therefore, if you feel you did not say much in class you can post on here. I will be reading over the blog througout the week to see if anyone posts any comments, questions, statements or suggestions.

If you find any artwork, videos etc. that you feel connect to our discussions please post it on here. I also welcome you to post your own artwork, or artwork you want to try making.

Please rememeber to use "I" language, and to be courteous to other people's posts. This is a place where you are welcome to be open, honest and candid, but be respectful of everyone else's ideas or posts.

Welcome to Art 3372 Sec 006. I hope everyone is ready to have a great sememster, engage in important discussions, read new texts, and make meaningful art.
